I was born in 1976 in Rotterdam. Because I was stubborn prenatally, I was in a breech. This resulted in a pendulum nystagmus and a spasm.
A nystagmus is a brain disorder in which the eyes 'vibrate'. This is my visibility limited to about 15% and my spasm lies mainly in a less functional and left leg. This has never deterred me my own thing. Drawing is one of those things that as a sort of thread running through my life. Gave me a piece of paper as a child in kindergarten and you did not hear me anymore. On my sixth in a fair way, I won a drawing contest, which I regarded as a great compliment.
In my teens I had a time fanatic and signed my first portrait. That was my fourteenth, a portrait of my grandfather. I also drew a self portrait and fantasy creatures like centaur.
One day I just stopped to put it in 2006 to resume after the death of my grandmother. This drawing was the beginning of a whole series of portraits of particular individuals. Most of which I was asked by family and friends. The last three years as the orders come in from third parties, and I think it's great fun to do. The kick for me lies in the growth of a project under my hands. From sketch to a complete drawing.
I prefer drawing people and animals and then prefer ordinary, unknown people and pets. Everyone has beauty in itself, it is a challenge to show it.
